On Saturday, which may have been the last day of summer, the Wood notched up a nice 33 – 21 win against Monmouth in the first round of the National Plate competition. An entertaining game in superb sunny day seen the Wood run in five tries, two apiece for Josh Watkins and Adam Coupe, and one for Dan Tucker, the remainder of the points from the boot of Scott Turner with four conversions. The Worthington Man of the match award went Ross Coghlan. Again, in the squad of twenty for todays game twelve were ex youth boys. Many thanks to the Mini section for the guard of honour, very much appreciated by the players and supporters alike - well done! Back to the league next week, away to Pill Harriers.
