Blackwood RFC 47-24 Garndiffaith rfc

Blackwood continue their unbeaten start to the season with fourth win on the trot.

Blackwood RFC have continued their perfect start to their Division 2 East campaign with a bonus point victory over Garndiffaith.

Home tries from Josh Law, Jordon Watkins, Morgan Evans, Sam Morris, Joel Patterson and a double from Callum Gleadall maintained Blackwood's invincible form.

The hosts came out of the blocks all guns blazing with a try early on for skipper Josh Law.

The centre picking his line with perfection to mince the Garndiffaith defence after a lovely delayed pass from Gleadall gave Law the perfect gap to cross for the first try of the match and Law breaking the 100 point mark for the club.

Blackwood pounced on the visitors errors to extend their lead when a poor clearing kick looped up in the air and landed on the visitors 5-meter line allowing Ollie Lawford to pounce on the loose ball and offload to Gleadall for the fly half's first try of the afternoon.

The hosts would go three tries ahead without a reply when flanker Jordon Watkins danced his way in from the 22-meter line.

The back rower recieving a wide pass before sitting down two covering defenders and beating a third for pace to the line.

Blackwood secured their bonus point within the first half thanks to a moment of individual brilliance from the electric Morgan Evans.

Evans gathered a clearing Garndifaith kick before jinking his way past two sets of opposing ankles before showing the rest of the fied a set of clean heels as he raced down the wing and over into the clubhouse corner.

The visitors would finally grab a try of their own to get themselves into the game after some good phase play a disjointed Blackwood defence was unlocked to bring the score 26-7 before the visitors added another 3-points to their tally from the tee to bring the half time score to 26-10.

Blackwood showed no signs of taking their foot off the gas in the second half with a try early into the second half from centre Sam Morris.

A strong Blackwood scrum on the visitors 5-metre line allowed Morris to pick his line a power his way over the white wash to further cement Blackwood's dominance.

The visitors would fire back just three minutes later with a try of their own this time finding space in the wide channels and a clever play of quick hands saw the travelling Garndiffaith fans have some hope of a comeback.

Gleadall would quickly dampen the visitors spirirts with some dancing feet to grab his second try.

Some great structure play from the Blackwood pack enabled Gleadall to slip through the opposing defence and with some clever footwork and immense strenght the fly half was able to break through the covering defence and put the game to bed.

The visitors would score two tries late on for their consolations put the game was finalised with a powering try from Joel Patterson who crashed his way over from close range to seal the victory and race Blackwood to the top of the table.

Blackwood now face Cwmbran in their next Division 2 East fixture.
