Blackwood V Newport Pill Harriers

. This was a tough physical encounter for the full eighty minutes; the Harriers were competitive throughout the game and scored two well worked tries, but Blackwood took their opportunities and recorded four tries. Blackwood took an early lead taking an advantage of two penalties, this was followed by a try conversion taking the score to 13 – 0. Relentless pressure by Pill in the last couple of minutes in the first half seen them cross the line for a well worked try, this was converted taking the half time score to 13 – 7. In a good running second half Blackwood stretched their lead to 27 – 7 two converted tries, Pill did come back to reduce the deficit with another well worked try again converted. With the score 27 – 14 Pill were now exerting more pressure and causing Blackwood some problems. Fears of a Pill comeback were put to bed with a well worked break out of defence by blackwood which resulted in a try under the posts, again converted. The final score 34-14 at the final whistle However, this tough physical encounter left many of us wondering why the Harriers are at the foot of the table. Again, congratulations to Scott Turner 100% kicking record, and to Luke Knight the Worthington Man of The Match. Tries: Ioan Lloyd, Dan Tucker, Josh Watkins, Gary Wilkes. Penalties: 2 Scott Turner. Conversions: 4 Scott Turner.
